Amyclae Dance Academy
A good dancer is not determined by the number of steps they know how to perform but by how well they perform the steps they know.

Pre Professional Ballet Program

Commitment/Benefits
The pre-professional ballet program is for the serious ballet student who intends on pursuing a career in a professional ballet company. It is an intensive program that requires a commitment of 2-4 days and 2-13.5 hours of ballet classes a week. By taking more technique classes the student's technique improves at a much faster pace. The focus of the program is to build a strong foundation from which the student can grow and develop. Building from a strong foundation is the key for students to reach their fullest potential.

Pointe Shoes Policy
New Students
New Students will be evaluated in their ballet technique classes as to whether or not they will be allowed to take pointe classes. All studios have a different program and different requirements pertaining to pointe work. A student will not necessarily be allowed to take pointe classes at ADA even if the student has taken pointe classes at their previous school. An ADA instructor will evaluate the student's technique, strength, control, alignment, balance and understanding of how to use the muscles in the body. If the instructor feels the student should begin pointe work then ADA will require a note from a Podiatrist stating that the student's bones and joints in the ankles and feet are strong enough to handle pointe work. The student’s legs and core muscles must also be strong enough before the student is allowed to enroll in pointe classes. This is to ensure the safety of our students.
ADA Students
  • At the end of each year, the ballet teachers will determine which students have the strength and body control to go on pointe.
  • The average age for a student to go on pointe is 11 -12 years old.
  • Based on their strength, control, prior dance training and bone development, a student may be allowed to go on pointe at an earlier age.
**Students may not wear pointe shoes nor take pointe classes without a teacher's approval**
